Ten Year Anniversary Update (2011)

It is hard to believe that it is going to be the 10th anniversary of 9/11, it seems like yesterday. I have been down to Ground Zero every year for the anniversary & each year it brings up so much emotion, I know this year will be no different. It is always a time of great reflection & this year especially will be a milestone of remembrance of what has happened over the past ten years.

Personally so much has changed in my life & I must say thankfully it has all been good. Because of 9/11, I volunteered in 2001 for the NYC Veteran’s Day parade & from that became very involved with our Veterans & Wounded Warriors. I even had the opportunity to be the Deputy Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Parade for the Vietnam Veterans Wall in DC November, 2007, which was an another amazing experience.

Doing some other volunteer work, I met my boyfriend Gene in 2004, who is a NYC firefighter & we moved in together almost 2 years ago into a beautiful house on the water in the Bronx. We also started a foundation called Never Forget Foundation which helps our military, especially our Wounded Warriors.

My children who were 12, 14 & 16 are now adults & my oldest daughter, blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter Madelyn Grace who just turned 1, last Sunday.

I am not working in the ER anymore, I left the ER in 2005 & tried many different nursing jobs for a few years & last year I went back to Jacobi & took a job in the Women’s Health Clinic follow up office. It works for now, because it’s basically a computer job & I had to take a job like that due to my arthritis had progressed to that point. I am thankful I am working.
